Factory Safety Mirrors

Why Are Mirrors Used In Factories?

The need for surveillance and supervision in factories has continued to increase, with the consequences of work related injuries becoming ever more important to employers. If an employer desires the best work at the optimum rate in their factories, surveillance and safety has to be of the upmost importance. Safety is an integral part of a successful factory, as a factory with a safe atmosphere is likely to be more productive, motivating the workforce and reducing employee down-time due to injury. The introduction of close circuit cameras gave a new dimension to factory surveillance and safety, but these systems can be extremely expensive, and so an older form of surveillance is still commonly used.

Mirrors allow for improved visibility, and come in different types like convex mirrors and concave mirrors, dome mirrors and many more. Convex mirrors especially have been used for centuries, and this basic technology can still play an important part in a well constructed factory safety scheme. A factory safety mirror will provide a clear, wide-angle reflection, allowing surveillance of certain areas from vantage points that would otherwise be impossible (around corners, for example).

Safety Mirrors in Factories

Mirrors in factories have varied uses. They can be used to keep a check on the movement of employees and their activities, or mounted at strategic locations to facilitate easy mobility and a fast and congestion free work environment. Some mirrors have special functions, such as forklift mirrors which are mounted expressly for the convenience of forklift operators. Inspection mirrors can be installed so as to inspect cumbersome equipment and also to keep a close eye on the health and utility of the machine in question. Factory safety mirrors should also be mounted or installed at entrances of loading bays and storage areas, to provide employees with a clear and wide field of vision thereby enhancing the wellbeing of everyone in the vicinity.
